Peloponnes: Mani by bike

After having rented „normal“ bikes from 2407m for a trip to Trachila and back we decided to go for »The Big Loop«.

The journey started at 8 am at the shop in Stoupa with adjusting the e-bikes, fitting the helmets and getting prepared for the trip. We had never used an e-bike before, but a few minutes into the trip it already felt natural to go uphill with ease, supported by »Riese & Müller«.

These bikes are just phantastic and made us feel safe and comfortable right from the beginning. Rolling quietly through the mountains they formed a solid foundation for the journey expertly guided by Yiannis.

He knows the area like the back of his hand, and the route and the stops were great. Filling up bottles with mountain water, the views of Viros Gorge and Taygetos, the hidden villages, the towers. And lunch in a small tavern in a mountain village was a delight.

But the real highlight is the landscape. The many shades of green from trees and plants, the quiet mountain air filling the lungs, the sparkling sea way down below. It’s an experience, and hard to describe with words.

All in all the trip was the ideal way to get to know the area. Like my wife said: Twelve out of ten.

If you’re thinking about trying »The Big Loop«, just do it.
